Chattanooga On The Map Finds A Publisher!
In December, 2007, Rita L. Hubbard's first nonfiction historical, Chattanooga On The Map, will make its debut.
Designed to be the first of a two-volume historical, Chattanooga On The Map will chronicle the early presence of African Americans in the Chattanooga/Hamilton
County area. It will also outline the contributions that African Americans in Chattanooga have made to their own city, and to the United
States as a whole.
One example is the story of ex-slave Mary Walker, who became the nation's oldest student after she learned to read at the ripe old age of 116.

Hubbard has placed 3rd out of 142 entries in the Innerlit Moon Award For Best First Chapter Contest.
Hubbard's entry, entitled Shout When Jubilee Comes, is the story of an uneducated but otherwise brilliant slave who is about to orchestrate a revolt in order
to be free. He encounters an educated freeborn who insists on teaching the slaves to read, even though her undercover activities may mean certain death. They
both had good, solid plans...until they met each other.
